Rec Director

The Marion Recreation Director oversees the development, management, maintenance, upkeep and vision of the recreation department and the facilities to which the programs are ran. The director plans, organizes and directs the operations of all activities and services that Marion Recreation offer throughout the year. This will include labor, working on publicity, finances, running activities

 

Reports To: Superintendent, Marion Recreation Board

 

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelors Degree in Sports Management or Education preferred, but not necessary

· Three (3) years’ experience in a recreation program or related field in supervisory/management capacity preferred, but not necessary

· Knowledge of equipment, facilities, programs required with a connection throughout the community on needs and wants.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Schedule all rec directed activities.

· In conjunction with the district A.D. and superintendent, schedule use of all facilities.

· Keep the entire community informed of all information through the rec, including changes.

· Plan all yearly activities while increasing options for all community members.

· Schedule all athletic dates, times and workers for all activities.

· Schedule and maintain all concession stand operations.

· Prepare a monthly report for the BOE and BOD the happenings of the rec.

· Oversee the storage of all athletic equipment, supplies and materials.

· Administer clinics for officials and umpires before each season.

· Supervision of property/activities involving the rec (unless covered and approved by BOD).

· Arrange all coaching positions for each season.

· Help with any improvements to facilities, including labor.

· Advise coaches on equipment, supplies and personnel which might improve rec programs.

· Develop and implement policies and procedures for rec programs.

· Communicate clearly, effectively and to the point both orally and in writing.

· Job includes a forty (40) hour weeks with the possibility of longer time on occasion.

· Connection with outside working relationships and improve the amount of connections every year.

· The employee is required to regularly and consistently show up for work on time.

· Other duties as required and assigned.

 

Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the USD 408 Board of Education.

 

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Staff through the Superintendent and building administration.
